Local Rules Committee

The Local Rules Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of North Carolina welcomes comments from everyone working in and for the Court, court users, members of the bar and the public at large. Effective from and after January 2, 2026, the annual rule making calendar will be as follows:
- By the last day of February of each year, the Court will make a recommendation of any additions and/or amendments to the Local Rules to the chair of the Committee.
- The Committee will complete an annual review of the Local Rules by no later than May 15th of each year, including a review of any recommendations made by the Court, the bar, or the general public.
- By June 30th, a report and recommendation of any new rules and/or amendments thereof (“the Rules Package”) will be forwarded to the Court by the chair.
- The Court will review the report and recommendation and upon approval, the Rules Package will be submitted for public comment via the Court’s website. The period for public comment will take place from August 15th through September 15h each year. (Should August 15th fall on a weekend or a day when the Clerk’s Office is inaccessible, the posting date will be delayed until the next business day when the Clerk’s Office is accessible; the end date for comments will be commensurately extended.)
- The Rules Package, with any changes because of public comment, will be submitted to the Court with a recommendation from the Committee for their approval by no later than October 15th of each year.
- Unless the Court decides otherwise, the new Rules Package will be published by November 15th with an effective date of December 1st of each year. (Should November 15th fall on a weekend or a day when the Clerk’s Office is inaccessible, the posting date will be delayed until the next business day when the Clerk’s Office is accessible.)
