Receiving Too Many Emails from the Court?
If you are receiving too many emails from the court, there are a couple of steps you can take to reduce the number of email notifications that are sent to your address.
OPTION 1 – Elect to receive one email per day via a “Daily Summary Report” of ECF activity as opposed to a separate email for each docket entry.
- Log on to CM/ECF
- Click ‘Utilities’ to go to the utilities menu
- Click ‘Maintain Your ECF Account’
- At the bottom of the screen, press the [Email information] button
- Click the circle beside “Send a Daily Summary Report”
- When finished, click the [Return to Account screen] button
- At the bottom of the screen, click the [Submit] button
- Click [Submit] a final time to update your account
OPTION 2 – File a “Notice of Disinterest” in cases for which you no longer wish to receive email notifications.
- Log on to CM/ECF
- Click ‘Bankruptcy’ to go to the bankruptcy menu
- Click ‘Notices’ to go to the notices menu
- Enter your Case number
- Select “Notice of Disinterest (Text Only Entry)”
- Click [Next]
- Follow the steps to complete filing of the Notice of Disinterest.
The Notice of Disinterest is a text-only entry. You do not have to prepare or attach a PDF document to this filing. After filing this notice, you will be removed from the email notification list for that particular case.
OPTION 3 – Check your account to see if there are cases listed in the "additional cases" box (cases in which you are not a party). If you no longer wish to receive email notifications in these additional cases, you can remove them from your account.
- Log on to CM/ECF
- Click ‘Utilities’ to go to the utilities menu
- Click ‘Maintain Your ECF Account’
- At the bottom of the screen, press the [Email information] button
- Look in the box called "Send notices in these additional cases"
- If you have added any additional cases, those case numbers will appear in the box
- Delete the case number of any cases for which you no longer wish to receive email notifications
